A ‘correfoc’ (literally translation: fire-run) is a typical and cultural event in Catalonia, Spain. Manresa’s ‘correfoc’ takes place during the town’s festivity at the end of Agust and has a lot of fire, dragons and demons.
Its music is very caracteristic and popular among the people of Manresa and surroundings. Kursaal, the main theatre of Manresa, wanted to organize a concert of all the music of the ‘correfoc’. This past Sunday 3th of September took place the concert of ‘Les Músiques del Correfoc de Manresa’. All the original pieces are originally for a band. The aim of this concert was that ‘La Unió Musical del Bages’ played the themes of the show. I had the pleasure of arranging two of the themes for this instrumental ensemble. They are called ‘La Nova Criatura’ and ‘La Mulassa Infantil’.
